Comedy is my first love. So getting to collaborate with some of my favorite comics to make original work for Comedy Central was an absolute delight. From 2015 to 2017, I was an in-house content creator for Comedy Central making original work that launched across their social platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and the CC app. These are a selection of some of my favorite projects.
UPNEXT CLUSTERFEST
For their live comedy festival “Clusterfest”, CC curated a group of rising comics including Bowen Yang and Patti Harrison. I co-wrote sketches with them and many other great comics and then directed and post-produced this series. It played live to huge crowds during their Clusterfest showcase, and launched on Youtube, Insta, and Snapchat as well.
SOMEONE’S IN HERE
Comedy Central bought my character driven sketch series ‘Someone’s In Here’ which featured a series of crazy vignettes taking place in different bathrooms. I wrote and directed all five episodes for multiple platforms, which starred such great talent as Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers, Catherine Cohen, Ana Febrega, Sam Reece, and Becky Chicoine.
Someone’s In Here
ROY WOOD JR.
One of my favorite experiences at Comedy Central was getting to collaborate with the immensely talented Roy Wood Jr. of The Daily Show and Space Force fame. Roy took moments from his hit stand up special and turned them into sketches blowing out the premise of the jokes. I helped him rewrite them for video and then directed an fantastic group of actors. We also made a three-part spin off scripted series called Night Pigeon inspired by the world of overlooked black superheroes in the MCU.
SHANE TORRES CONQUERS YOUR FEARS
The hilarious stand up comic Shane Torres wanted to help his friends face their fears - and/or torment them. Comedy Central loved the idea but didn’t know how to bring it to life. So they brought me on to develop the idea with Shane and it turned into an absolutely gut-busting series that’s half-exposure therapy and half-prank show delving into our collective psyches.
AFTER HOURS
Josh Horowitz and I had been collaborating since my early days at MTV in 2014. So when he brought his hit sketch series to Comedy Central, I jumped at the chance to showrun it. I pitched to, wrote for, and directed such incredible talent as James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Ed Helms, Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Jackman, and more. Some of my favorite moments getting big names to do some silly stuff.
SHOP TALK
Long time friends and collaborators Becky Chicoine and Sam Reece wrote a hilarious sketch show for Comedy Central which I got to direct and help bring to life! It’s a hoot and should be on tv!
Every Damn Sketch Show
When Comedy Central began their in-house “Creators Program”, they brought me on to help bring their digital content to life. I directed a run of sketches for their weekly sketch show and had a blast doing it.
